Mr. Moffat Ekoriko

Moffat Ekoriko, founder/publisher of NewsAfrica magazine, is a journalist with more than three decades of experience with Nigerian and international publications.  Previously he worked with the Nigerian Tide, Port Harcourt; Newswatch, Lagos; Africa Today, London, and the Financial Times, London. He was also the Lagos correspondent of the Times, London and a contributor to The Observer, London.

In 1996, Moffat was awarded Nigeria’s highest media honour, the Cecil King Memorial prize for Journalist of the Year (1995) by the Nigerian Media Merit Award, a year after the London based Nuffield Foundation awarded him the Commonwealth Press Fellowship. He has more than 20 awards and honours for academic excellence, professional merit and community service.

Moffat studied at the Polytechnic, Calabar and the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Nigeria. He holds a Master of Arts degree in communication studies from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. He was also a press fellow at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge.

Moffat is also the Lead Consultant for Clearpoint Communications Limited, an integrated strategic communication consultancy firm. He is married with children and 12 grand children.
